COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

DAY 1

• To explore the four patterns of behaviour which people use when communicating:

Submissive behaviour
Aggressive behaviour
Passive-Aggressive behaviour
Assertive behaviour

• Learn how to identify these behaviours in both self and others
• Learn the non-verbal aspects of submissive, assertive and aggressive behaviour
• Understand the 'trigger points' that lead into negative patterns of communicating
• Find the skills to disarm 'aggressive' situations
• Learn useful techniques to make your decisions and beliefs heard

DAY 2

• Learn how to say 'no' without being aggressive
• Learn the 'five vital ingredients' in any assertive process
• Learn stress relieving techniques
• Learn ‘active listening’ techniques
• Practice using your own real situations
• Create personal development plan

HALF DAY FOLLOW UP

• Review of previous course
• Review of learning and personal development plan
• Answering questions
• Actions for extended learning
