MANAGING STRESS IN THE WORKPLACE

All those deadlines, frustrations, and demands—if we are not careful our daily challenges can turn stress into a way of life. A little bit of stress can be a motivator, but if we are frequently in crisis mode our body, mind, and spirit begin to crumble.

Managers have their own stress to deal with, which can be compounded as they become the focal point for everyone else's stress. Knowing how we respond to this pressure is crucial information for both self-management and managing others.

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

You will be able to:

For yourself:

• Understand stress
• Understand how it effects your body and your performance
• Identify what is creating stress for you
• Deal more effectively with ‘stressful,’ relationships at work
• Avoid stress building up
• Create a practical work life balance
• Practise physical, scientifically proven ways to reduce stress
• Create an action plan

For those you manage:

• Understand your organisation’s policy on stress
• Effectively implement the policy with those you manage
• Create practical strategies to reduce ‘stress impact’ in your team
• Help your team take responsibility for their own stress
• Create ‘stress free’ meetings
