DEALING EFFECTIVELY WITH STRESS AND PRESSURE IN THE WORKPLACE

PROPOSED TIMINGS

One day

INTRODUCTION

Stress has a bad press. Stress contributes to 75% of all work-related illnesses – both physical and mental. Stress accounts for 40 million working days lost every year in the UK. More and more people complain about stress.

However, stress is not all bad. It can be a positive energising force that helps us feel stimulated and motivated in our work. We will never eradicate stress, neither should we want to – we merely need to learn how to manage it more effectively.

The tools and techniques in this course will help you understand and diagnose the stress at work, identify the stressors you can and cannot control, and assess your readiness to make changes.

COURSE AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

You will be able to:

• Understand the impact of both positive and negative stress
• Understand how it affects your body and your performance
• Identify what is creating stress for you
• Deal more effectively with ‘stressful’ relationships at work
• Avoid stress building up
• Create practical work life balance
• Find physical, scientifically proven ways to reduce stress
• Action Planning
