AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

FIRST DAY COURSE
TEAM DEVELOPMENT

• Recognise individual’s role within the team
• Create greater team cohesion, through exploring common values and goals
• Look at ways of working more effectively together
• Spend time getting to know each other better
• Explore ways of supporting each other within the team

COMMUNICATION

• Look at patterns of communicating within the team
• Explore developing ‘assertive behaviours,’ within the team
• How to communicate effectively in times of pressure and change
• Explore the difference between reactive communication and reflective communication
• Create a working agreement together to help improve communication

THINKING ABOUT THE FUTURE

• What is the purpose of the team?
• What needs to be done to fulfil the team’s purpose?
• Create a collective vision for the future
• Practical strategies for making the vision for the future a reality
• Commitment to action

POST COURSE REPORT

• Facilitator writes all the actions points and strategies written by the team
• Phone consultation with managers

HALF DAY COURSE REVIEW

• Review learning from previous course
• Review actions from previous course: what has been achieved, what more needs to be done
• Celebrate successes of team
